A represenatation of the hurt and harm caused to the women of Ireland by the 8th amendment.

Since 1983, the Eight Amendment has imposed a near total ban on access to abortion in Ireland. Until it was repealed, it continued to put the health, life and well-being of every pregnant woman and girl at risk.

On May 25th 2018, the people of Ireland were presented with the once-in-a-generation opportunity to vote ‘Yes’ to repeal the Eight Amendment to the Irish Constitution.

The Tear in Ireland’s Eye was created in partnership with Amnesty International and glass Irish artist Sinéad Brennan.
